Description Destination

The museum shows a representative cross-section of all mining techniques. It becomes clear how laboriously coal had to be mined by hand in the past and what revolutionary changes had occurred in the technical field before the mine was closed in 1971. In addition to shaft models, tools and mining lamps, uniforms, numerous photos and personal documents help to illustrate the site. Mine rescue and mining surveying are also taken into account.
1. Department: Main building and cash desk
In the former mining house, geological diagrams explain the formation of the coal seams in the Alpine foothills. Tools, shaft models and mine equipment illustrate the mining work. You will see how the pitch coal was originally mined by laborious manual labor and how coal mining was increasingly modernized over time
2nd Department: Adventure Mine
With the museum guide you will travel through a part of the former deep tunnel. You will gain an insight into the working world of the miner. Experience the atmosphere of mining!
3. Department: Exhibition Hall
In the deep tunnel hall you can view the large-scale equipment and learn about the method of modern coal mining at the “show face”.

Right next to the museum, there is another special experience: a trip through the former "deep tunnel" gives an insight into the working world of the miner. On a 200-meter-long section, the various types of construction in wood and steel can be compared. A demonstration blasting on the vibrating plate rounds off the entrance. Everything is there, from the mine telephone to the miner's toilet. This allows every visitor to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of mining.
