The Drachensee is a paradise for sailors, anglers and nature lovers.
Around the 175 hectare reservoir area of ​​the Chamb River in Furth im Wald, those seeking relaxation and nature explorers alike get their money's worth. Circular trails and fitness routes for hikers, cyclists and Nordic walking enthusiasts lead through beautiful landscapes to a variety of places around the reservoir where you can enjoy nature with all its advantages. But it’s not just athletes like these who get their money’s worth. The Drachensee also offers numerous opportunities to be active in the water. What distinguishes the Drachensee from other reservoirs in Bavaria is its four-zone concept, especially the nature experience zone and the ecological regeneration zone. The compensatory measures implemented here create a new habitat that has good conditions to offer threatened animals and plants a new home and a chance of survival. At the same time, visitors can observe the local birdlife undisturbed in specially constructed observation stations. Fishing licenses are available from Sport Schromm, Tel. 09973/1262 and from the Tourist Information, Tel. 09973/509-80.
