Stübing is THE central open-air museum in Austria . ❤ Here you will find history from all Austrian regions. The approximately 100 historic rural buildings from the various federal states from six centuries tell exciting stories about building, living, working, celebrating - in short, the life of the rural population of yesteryear.

The diverse museum program offers events on the topics of customs , crafts, rural life and work, folk culture as well as agriculture and nature for young and old.

The various programs offer authentic insights into the history of Austria and convey interesting facts about the world of our farming ancestors through entertaining activities, guided tours, demonstrations and hands-on stations .

Between craftsmanship, function and fashion

The peasant clothing of the past was primarily work clothing , which had to be practical and, above all, durable. Preserved work clothing from earlier times is therefore a rarity, as it was worn for as long as possible and then mended several times before being reused as rags or given to rag collectors. Festive and Sunday clothes were more commonly preserved. They were only worn on certain occasions of the year and were often passed on to the next generation.

Easily doable with a stroller .

The historic buildings themselves can only be reached via gravel paths , and entering and driving around the buildings is not wheelchair accessible. If required, a walker or wheelchair can be borrowed free of charge .

The administration building with the museum shop and museum café as well as the toilet facilities there are barrier-free. The guest house is also barrier-free and has its own barrier-free toilet.
