Drop anchor and experience wild animals
A day at the Allwetterzoo Münster takes you around the world
Where else in Münsterland can you travel the world from China to Brazil and back via Madagascar in one day. Dive into the oceans or walk from the temperate latitudes through the subtropics to the deepest jungle – at the Allwetterzoo Münster you can encounter diversity and experience great things.
Even the journey to the Allwetterzoo Münster can be a real adventure. With the Solaaris you travel by water, or rather by Aasee. The last few meters are then covered using only the power of the sun through the zoo canal, before finally mooring in Germany's only zoo harbor. What follows is a very special trip around the world that can be done in just one day. It is not so much the countries or climate zones themselves, but rather their animal ambassadors that invite you to travel and dream of faraway countries.
From Siberian tigers, Asian elephants, African penguins, turtles, giraffes and lowland gorillas – many animals live on the 30 hectares of the zoo. Residents from different regions and climate zones of the world want to be discovered. For example, on our extensive Africa panorama. Here, zebras, wildebeests and other antelopes can be observed roaming among the ostriches.
Globetrotters can attend feedings of penguins and grey seals or take a short trip to the coast in the neighboring wader facility.
In the aquarium you can dive into other worlds. Freshwater and saltwater aquariums show how colorful and lively things can be under the water surface. On the upper floor there are reptiles, spiders, amphibians and snakes. The sloths that can be seen over the Amazon basin can also be found here.
Anyone who travels around the world so much will get hungry sooner or later. If you don't want to cater for yourself, you can do so in one of the kiosks or in the large zoo restaurant, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the red pandas.
There are also many playgrounds, a petting zoo, adventurous paths through the animal enclosures and much more that makes a holiday day unforgettable. Dogs are also welcome. More at www.allwetterzoo.de
Species protection in action
The Allwetterzoo Münster is one of the leading institutions in the fields of nature, environment and, above all, species protection. In order to meet this responsibility, the Allwetterzoo has a special curator who coordinates various conservation projects and initiatives and is also responsible for the zoo's own institutions, the "International Center for Turtle Conservation (IZS)" and the Cambodian species conservation center "Angkor Center for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB)". Directions

The easiest way to plan your journey is via https://www.allwetterzoo.de/de/dein-zoobesuch/anfahrt/.

If you are travelling by train instead of by car, you have several options for reaching the Allwetterzoo. From Münster main station, you can take the fully electric city bus line 14 from the main station to the zoo entrance. If you can get to the shore of the Aasee on foot or by bike, as bicycles are called in Münsterland, you can also take the SOLAARIS solar boat across the Aasee from the city centre to the zoo harbour. However, this is only possible in the summer months.

Of course, anyone can also come directly to the Allwetterzoo by bike. There is also the option of charging e-bikes for the journey home at our bike rack.
