There is evidence that evaporated salt has been extracted continuously in the saline plants of Bad Reichenhall since the year 696. In the heart of the Alpine town is the impressive witness to this unique salt history: the Old Saltworks. This industrial monument now houses the historic salt springs, the Salt and Brand Museum and the Salt Shop. Immerse yourself in what is probably the most beautiful saltworks in the world with its huge water wheels and extensive system of tunnels. Good luck!
