Description Destination
The Dominican Museum Rottweil was opened in 1992 with an exhibition area of around 1400 square meters as a branch museum of the Württemberg State Museum with two main focuses - Romans and medieval sculptures. Today, the Roman Rottweil – Arae Flaviae department is a branch museum of the Archaeological State Museum of Baden-Württemberg. The Department of Sacred Art of the Middle Ages – Dursch Collection is a branch museum of the State Museum of Württemberg. In 2009, the “kunst raum rottweil – museum der Gegenwart” was created in place of the former Dominican Forum, which shows changing exhibitions on contemporary art in a joint venture consisting of the city, the district, the Kreissparkasse and Forum Kunst. The new concept, which began in 2007, also includes a new graphic appearance, the remodeling of the foyer and museum educational offerings. In the summer of 2011, the “Roman Rottweil – Arae Flaviae” section was reopened with an interactive museum game. The section “Sacred Art of the Middle Ages – Dursch Collection” has been redesigned and is back on display since November 2019
