Everyday life off – relaxation mode on: Whoever enters the egapark is greeted by the play of colors of thousands of blossoms, enveloped by the scent of the flowers and the fresh green of the extensive lawns. Between water features, shady trees and hammocks, stress and hecticness have no chance.
The egapark, a 36-hectare garden, plant and leisure paradise, is one of the most popular tourist facilities in Thuringia. As the seasons change, flowers bloom from spring to autumn across 15,000 m² - in spacious changing flower areas and in unique themed gardens. Germany's largest sea of flowers invites you to take a short break from March to October amidst a play of colours and a variety of scents. From the observation tower you can see far over Erfurt.
The egapark is more than just a garden experience. On the green adventure tour, visitors of all ages can explore nature with all their senses. The GärtnerReich, the largest playground in Thuringia, with swings, slides and seesaws in the shape of traditional Erfurt fruits and vegetables is the starting point of an adventure tour. It then continues through the unique desert and jungle house of Danakil. In the exciting search for water, two opposing worlds open up to the viewer. Anyone who has left the desert and jungle behind and passed through the climate forest will discover Erfurt's green treasure and the importance and history of horticulture in a new, interactive exhibition at the German Horticultural Museum. In the adjacent forest park, the knowledge forest awaits you with nature experiences for all the senses.
The egapark combines artistic garden design with the architectural monuments of the 1960s and 1970s of GDR modernism. With the Federal Garden Show Erfurt 2021, the park, which was generously and visionarily designed by Reinhold Lingner, underwent a forward-looking realignment in many areas. Part of the garden park's green strategy is also the bundling of green expertise with the German Horticultural Museum and the exhibition on the Thuringian Green Belt of the Nature Conservation Foundation, which has been based in the park since 2021.
