    Overall impression

    Eine ganz besondere Burg

    In der Burgführung hörten wir, dass mehrere Personen diese Burg schon als die schönste der Welt bezeichnet haben. Angesichts der imposanten Kulisse in den Salzburger Bergen und der Intaktheit der Burg kein Wunder. Die Greifvogelschau, die zweimal täglich stattfindet - und wir uns auch zweimal angesehen haben - ist das Tüpfelchen auf dem i. Die Fahrt hinauf ist das erste Highlight, denn steil geht es mit dem Schräglift hinauf zum mittelalterlichen Gemäuer. Der Innenhof wirkt wie aus einem Bilderbuch. Wie man sich eben eine richtige Mittelalter-Burg vorstellt. Dabei sind viele der Gemäuer nach einem Brand im letzten Jahrhundert wieder aufgebaut worden. Das tut dem Burgerlebnis aber keinen Abbruch. In einer sehr informativen und unterhaltsamen Führung bekommt man tolle Ein- und Ausblicke. Schwindelfrei sollte man jedenfalls am Glockenturm - dem höchsten Punkt der Burg sein. Ob am Wehrgang, in der Folterkammer oder in der Burgkirche, die Geschichte der Festung wird bei der Führung seh- und spürbar. Für Kinder sogar hörbar, da es einen Audioguide für Kinder gibt. Bei der Greifvogelschau gibt es majestätische Tiere in der Luft und am Land zu sehen. Die Geier, die auch gerne mal durchs Publikum hüpfen, suchen ihresgleichen. Eine Rätselrally für Kinder bietet ein Zusatzprogramm, um die Burg noch genauer erkunden zu können. Für einen ganztägigen Familienausflug, den wir nicht so schnell vergessen werden, bekommt die Burg Hohenwerfen glatte 5 Sterne von uns.
