Description Destination

The Kallmann Museum, which is idyllically situated in the old castle park of Ismaning, is one of the special gems in the Upper Bavarian museum landscape. It was founded in 1992 and is housed in a replica of a classicist orangery from the early 19th century, which stood on the same site until 1983. The foundation museum is dedicated to the work of the painter Hans Jürgen Kallmann (1908 – 1991), which is regularly presented in extensive presentations. In addition, several exhibitions of modern and contemporary art are shown annually on an exhibition area of ​​around 400 square meters.
The castle park is not only the green lung of Ismaning, but also a cultural monument that has significance beyond the town. In 1807, the former baroque park was transformed into an English Garden by the landscape architect Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell. As a small private complex of the Bavarian nobility, it represents an interesting variation of Sckell's garden art. Although some 20th century interventions are evident, the structure of the park, the historical paths and the arrangement of the groups of trees have been preserved. The valuable trees and plants are carefully maintained and gently rejuvenated.
