On May 1, 2026, the Swabian Forest will become an adventure playground for explorers of all ages!
Around the East Roman fort in Welzheim, an eventful day full of nature, games and discoveries awaits. At the Children's Nature Experience Festival, children and families can be active outdoors, marvel, try things out and experience nature with all their senses. Whether meadow, forest or water – there is something exciting to discover and understand everywhere.
Together with the city of Welzheim, the Swabian Forest Tourism, the nature park guides, the Swabian Forest Fairies, Forst BW and numerous clubs and organizations, a colorful festival is created in the middle of nature on this day.
Your physical well-being is also well catered for: local marketers and clubs will spoil you with regional specialties and hearty treats.
The official reopening of the Swabian Forest Railway will take place at 1:30 pm.
A special highlight awaits at 2:00 pm: The ceremonial enthronement of the 12th Swabian Forest Fairy – a magical moment for the whole family.
