Special exhibition "From Heaven to the Studio" - Eva Rosenstiel 29.03.2026 - 15.11.2026
In the exhibition "From Heaven to the Studio" at the St. Märgen Monastery Museum, Ms. Rosenstiel shows works that were created in the St. Märgen studio over 10 years. In her work, the artist explores the conditions of seeing and the relationships between image and space, color and object.
Special exhibition "The Breisgau Five" 14.06.2026 - 17.01.2027
The St. Märgen Monastery Museum, in cooperation with the Augustinian Museum Freiburg, will present for the first time an exhibition on the Breisgau Five artists' association, founded in Freiburg in 1903. The exhibition features 45 paintings and graphics as well as 30 other exhibits by the painters Prof. Karl Heffner, Carl Schuster, Fritz Reiss, Ludwig Zorn and Hermann Dischler. The five artists joined forces to make their works known beyond the Breisgau region.
Visitors here can expect a journey into the land of watches. One of the main focuses of the exhibition is an extensive collection of Black Forest clocks.
Other highlights of the monastery museum are the artistic works of the sculptor Matthias Faller, who is well known far beyond St. Märgen.
But just like this ancient art, replicas of a shoemaker's workshop or an old farmhouse parlor can also be viewed.
The community offers weddings in the magnificent chapter house and the abbot's room - with an unparalleled view of the surrounding Black Forest hills.
