Description Destination

The entire Roman Park area can be easily viewed from a viewing hill. At the foot of the hill there is a replica of the fort on a scale of 1:10. Visitors can walk through the site on what were once Roman paths. Signs, large-format picture scenes and casts of Roman stone monuments provide information about the buildings and Roman life on site. In addition to a playground, there are various other activities for children, from riddles to a rotating puzzle to individual play equipment. Details can be found on the site map on the website. In addition to archaeology, nature is also an important topic. The fort is marked by plants. The Roman Park provides a habitat for various animal species, from insects and birds to foxes, hares and deer.
The permanent exhibition in the LIMESEUM illustrates in a modern way the Limes section between Mönchsroth and Arberg with a focus on Ruffenhofen. The focus here is on life at the Limes World Heritage Site at that time as well as the topics of timber conservation, the military and everyday civilian life.
The soldier December, whose name comes from Ruffenhofen Fort, reports on his life in exhibits, audio stations and a film and accompanies the visitor through the exhibition. Adventure stations for children round off the concept.
The small café offers visitors a place to pause.
