Description Destination
Every Wednesday (mid-May to mid-October) there is a "fairy tale story in the chalk cave" in Hinterstoder as part of the Pyhrn Priel adventure card.
I, Gottfried Ramsebner from Vorderstoder, tell old traditional legends from the Pyhrn Priel area.
We meet at the Prielkreuz bridge. Everyone is given a helmet and a "Schoaßdackerl" to borrow. We then walk 10 minutes to the chalk cave, hopefully wearing good shoes, and about 50 m into the cave. Everyone sits on a stone and then the story is told by the light of two petroleum lamps. A scary story and a mountain man story.
The event lasts about an hour.
The Landhotel Stockerwirt in Vorderstoder offers various half-board options, including a fairy tale meal. A wonderful 4 to 5 course meal and old legends between the courses.
The stories are told in dialect or in standard German (Austrian German), depending on the audience.
