Description Destination

The marble village of Adnet is famous for its red stone, which is still mined today. The proximity to the Salzach, Inn and Danube made it possible to ship the stone, which is very popular because of its red color, to large parts of Europe as early as the Middle Ages. The color red has always been a symbol of power and wealth.
The marble museum in the town hall provides information about the formation, mining, processing and transport of the precious stone. The different types of marble, fossils and the use of Adnet marble from Roman buildings to today's monuments are clearly explained.
The hike along the marble path takes about two hours and is also ideal for inexperienced hikers. The special features of the precious stone and its extraction are explained using display boards.
