Description Destination

The German Railway Association is the sponsoring association of the Bruchhausen-Vilsen - Asendorf Museum Railway and the Bruchhausen-Vilsen Narrow Gauge Railway Museum. We operate the last 8 km of narrow-gauge line of the Hoya-Syke-Asendorf narrow-gauge railway on a voluntary basis and also travel on the standard-gauge line between Eystrup and Syke.
As the first museum railway in Germany, founded in 1966, we operate every weekend and public holiday from May 1st to October 3rd. We also offer trips at Easter and Advent.
As a living narrow-gauge railway museum, we take you back to the early days of narrow-gauge railways and show you how railway operations were carried out back then. But we can also represent the other eras of narrow-gauge railways with our extensive fleet of over 100 vehicles. These include, among others, 6 steam and 5 diesel locomotives, 5 railcars and many passenger and freight cars on the narrow gauge. Our vehicles come from different regions in Germany and give us the opportunity to showcase the special features of individual railways. We also like to show less well-known transport methods such as dolly or trolley transport at our special events.
Our standard gauge vehicles show the development from narrow gauge to standard gauge in the region and some are also available for special trips across the region.

    Directions

The easiest way to reach Bruchhausen-Vilsen by car from Bremen or Hanover is via the B6. Our terminus in Asendorf is right on the B6. Between Heiligenberg and Asendorf the line runs right next to the main road. So don't be alarmed if you suddenly see a narrow-gauge train coming towards you!

The Verkehrsbetriebe Grafschaft Hoya (VGH) offers a bus connection to Bruchhausen-Vilsen from Syke (lines 150 + 153) and Hoya (line 150). In Syke there is also a connection to the trains on the Bremen - Osnabrück railway line.

The neighboring communities and Verkehrsbetriebe Grafschaft Hoya GmbH offer tourist railcar rides on the Hoya Railway between Eystrup - Hoya - Bruchhausen-Vilsen - Syke on some Sundays from May 1st to October 3rd. This also makes it possible to travel to the museum railway from the DB stations Eystrup (Bremen-Hanover route) and Syke (Bremen - Osnabrück route).
