Description Destination

The Niggeltalalm (Igltalalm) at 1,507 m is a popular hiking destination for families with children. The alpine hut can be reached on foot in about 1 to 1.5 hours; mountain bikers are also welcome.

There's plenty for children to discover here: a playground, small animals, a stream, a waterwheel, and a pond provide plenty of variety. The traditional Austrian snack, a Brettljause (a type of cold platter) with homemade delicacies such as bread, butter, cheese, bacon, or sausage, tastes especially delicious. Just a few meters from the alpine hut, a cross invites you to pause and reflect.

The natural surroundings of the Igltal valley are also captivating. With a bit of luck, you might spot chamois on the rock faces. The valley is particularly charming in early summer with its colorful alpine blossoms and in autumn when the larch trees turn golden yellow.

    You park at the Himmelsknoten car park and from there it takes about 1 1/4 hours to get to the alpine pasture on a comfortable forest path (suitable for pushchairs). There is also a shortcut through the forest (not suitable for pushchairs).
