Description Destination

Peter Rosegger, the well-known Styrian poet and journalist (1843-1918), built a country house in his hometown of Krieglach in 1877, which he used with his family for the summer months.
He died in his house in June 1918 and was buried in the Krieglach cemetery.
The exhibition "Who owns the Grossglockner? Rosegger between nature conservation and progress" looks at Peter Rosegger from a new perspective and sheds light on lesser-known aspects of his life as a writer, journalist, poet, forest farmer's boy and tailor's apprentice. Rosegger's work and death room have been preserved in their original condition and can be visited. In 1896 he had a wooden house built in the garden of his summer house as a retreat and guest accommodation. This "Alpine house" is now used as a "study house" for special exhibitions.
