Description Destination

The magnificent Renaissance castle is visible from far away and towers over the city. From May to October, visitors can view the castle and its exhibitions. In the castle museum, you can expect 800 years of history of the town and castle, from the Kuenringers to the current owners, the Fürstenberg family, with a historical range of works of art and exhibits. A special highlight is the Rococo theatre and the “whispering room”. For families, the climb up the castle tower and the puzzle rally through the castle are particularly popular. At the end of your visit, our shop offers a lovingly selected range of products and a cosy coffee corner where you can take a break.

In the beer adventure world we celebrate Weitra as Austria's oldest brewing town and learn about the different ingredients and brewing processes in the modern exhibition. The Iron Curtain setting offers diverse insights into life on the border. The barriers are discussed, as are daring escape attempts and the ideological confrontations between East and West.
