Description Destination
Learn more about half-timbered buildings and country life, farmers and hobbyists, hops and malt, fire service history and the “Eppingen Line” in the town and half-timbered museum. The Half-Timbered Museum presents the history from early timber construction to half-timbering on over 800 square metres of exhibition space – vividly linked with insights into the world of the carpenter and into the history of the town of Eppingen. The art of half-timbering can be further studied in the historic old town of Eppingen and on the half-timbered educational trail.
The main focus of the permanent collections is on the presentation of the development of half-timbered buildings and the history of the city. An important part of the museum's work is the presentation of four temporary exhibitions per year on contemporary art and topics of regional history.
The museum departments:
1st floor: Prehistory and early history/development of the city
2nd floor: From early timber construction to half-timbering, The Eppingen Lines
3rd floor: Pre-industrial living and working
4th floor: Flight and expulsion/Eppingen crafts
Outbuildings ground floor and 1st floor: We are currently renovating. A museum workshop is being built here.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday and on public holidays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (closed on Mondays) - admission free!

Eppingen has a well-developed road network and is conveniently located directly on the B293 federal highway as an east-west tangent from Heilbronn to Karlsruhe. The BAB 6 motorway can be reached in around seven kilometers via the L 1110 feeder road.
With the services of the Albtal-Verkehrsgesellschaft and Deutsche Bahn, local public transport in Eppingen is also well developed. The S4 can be used to reach destinations on the light rail line between Öhringen in the Künzelsau district and Baden-Baden, and the S5 of Deutsche Bahn provides easy access to Heidelberg and Mannheim, important long-distance train stations.
