Description Destination

The permanent exhibition in the old rectory is dedicated to the Schüz family of painters. Theodor Schüz, an important genre painter of the 19th century, had three sons:
Martin Schüz was a Protestant pastor in Haigerloch for decades. Numerous watercolors by him are shown in the exhibition.
His brother Friedrich Schüz, a painter, created his most famous work, the reconstruction of the Last Supper after Leonardo da Vinci in the Protestant church. Many of his paintings from Haigerloch and landscapes from the surrounding area are on display.
The third brother Hans, who died young, also left behind an extensive body of work, excerpts of which are shown.
