Who would have thought that such a simple melody would become a "world hit"? Franz Xaver Gruber and Joseph Mohr certainly couldn't have dreamed of this 200 years ago when they created this Christmas and peace song. The old schoolhouse in which Gruber worked as a teacher and lived with his family still stands here in Arnsdorf. It houses the oldest, active elementary school on the ground floor and the Silent Night Museum on the first floor.

In the anniversary year "200 years of Silent Night! Holy Night! 2018" there is something special for children aged 6 to 14 to experience - a school lesson in 1818! The ensemble of the Theater Holzhausen takes you on a journey into the past... all you have to do is slip into your "garments" and off you go.
