Discover the renewed Folklore Museum!
Since the reopening in April 2021, we have been presenting the exhibition "Worlds - Change - Perspectives", which is dedicated to life in Styria in various modules.
The traditional costume hall, the museum's largest exhibition room, is particularly impressive and offers you a time capsule of history. Begun in 1936 and opened to the public in the summer of 1938, i.e. during the Nazi era, it opens up different dimensions of folklore science, the Folklore Museum and its actors in a time of historical crises and ruptures.
An absolute highlight and, so to speak, the "heart" of the permanent exhibition is the original smokehouse from western Styria, a lively representation of rural life in pre-industrial times.
