Description Destination

From the town hall square and the tourist office, the AVS hiking sign no. 3 leads along an old plague path, also known as Patersteig, from the village center through the forest to the well-known and extremely
popular Montiggler Lakes, which are embedded in the lovely forest landscape. First, walk along Bahnhofstrasse in an easterly direction until you reach a large roundabout, then turn right into Montiggler Strasse and after about 500 metres, hiking trail no. 1 branches off to the right in a left turn.
3 off. You leave the last houses and vineyards behind you and the wide forest path then leads south through deciduous forest and thick-trunked pines. In some places it is important to pay close attention to the markings, as there are many paths and forks. After less than an hour from Montiggler Straße, the
Forest path into a newly built cycle path, which you follow until you see the first Montiggler wineries. A little further south, the church tower of the hamlet of Montiggl appears | Eppan, a quiet, homely
Villages embedded in wine and fruit plantations. The Montiggler bathing lakes are very close by and are very busy, especially in summer. In a quarter of an hour from the Montiggler church, hiking trail no. 5 leads past a hotel and a reed belt, directly to the Great Lake. A hiking trail runs along the lake from its western to its northern end. Following the hiking trail no. 16, you will soon reach the small
Reached Lake Monticolo: small in size, but large in intact nature. As with the Great Montiggler
Lake, there is also the opportunity to linger, enjoy, or have a little something to eat before the much shorter way back begins. The wide forest path no. 1 now leads up to a hill and then briefly downhill, somewhat steeply, following signpost no. 2, to the car park of the Rungg sports zone. After crossing the access road to the squares, the path continues in the same direction through the forest for a short while before the Überetsch with its castles and fortresses presents itself at the foot of the Mendelzug. The tarmac road that follows now leads towards Girlan | Appiano. After about 500 meters, path no. 6 branches off,
Through beautiful vineyards you go directly to the large roundabout. Bahnhofstrasse leads back to the center.
