Description Destination

The A. Paul Weber Museum marks the entrance to the historic cathedral area on the old town island of Ratzeburg. Surrounded by a large park on the banks of the Domsee, it is located in the immediate vicinity of the manor house, which was built as a summer residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and today houses the District Museum of the Duchy of Lauenburg.
The yew tree, a natural monument on the north side of the museum, at whose feet A. Paul Weber and his wife found their final resting place, has outlasted all the residents of the house: canons, high court officials and the officers of the garrison town of Ratzeburg. The complete works of the artist A. Paul Weber have been housed here since 1973.
The 17th-century building was last adapted to contemporary classicist tastes at the end of the 18th century. Today, the entrance hall with its Tuscan column, the elegant garden hall with its stylized dome as ceiling decoration and the enfilade through the cabinet rooms invite you to explore the exhibition on the cheerful to dystopian graphic work of A. Paul Weber. Highlights such as rare furniture designs, ex-libris, book illustrations, landscape paintings or the interior design of a Göttingen pharmacy complete the view of the entire Weber.
