What does biodiversity actually mean? Over a distance of about four kilometers, you will learn why wild herbs, trees and shrubs are so important for the habitat of our insects, birds, mammals and amphibians. On your way along fields, orchards and flower strips you will get to know many different breeding, nesting and feeding places of our species-rich fauna.
But be careful! This path is not suitable for boring people, as the Sunday stroll here becomes a family experience: In addition, exciting display boards, memory games and puzzles offer so many surprises for the little ones. Here you can try things out, turn them and fold them over. On the discovery trail you will be accompanied by the sounds of the forest and the chirping of crickets.
Using a QR code, you can find out what the calls of the colourful jay, the buzzard or the black woodpecker sound like.     Motorway A8 from Karlsruhe: exit Pforzheim-West (approx. 30 km); Continue on the federal highway 463 towards Calw
    You can reach Calw-Heumaden via the federal highway 295.
    Motorway A8 from Ulm/Stuttgart: exit Leonberg (approx. 25 km), continue on the federal road 295 in the direction of Weil der Stadt to Calw-Heumaden.
    Motorway A81 from the south/Lake Constance: exit Gärtringen-Stadtmitte (approx. 20 km), continue on the K 1075; Near Deckenpfronn, take the first exit at the roundabout and continue on the B 296 towards Calw. You can reach Calw-Heumaden via the federal highway 295.
    Arrival by train:
    Route Pforzheim - Calw - Horb - Tübingen (cultural railway).
    Long-distance train connections (EC, IC, ICE) are best reached in Karlsruhe with connecting trains via Pforzheim (Kulturbahn).
    If you are arriving via Stuttgart, we recommend continuing your journey with the S-Bahn S6 Stuttgart - Weil der Stadt and changing to bus line 670 to Calw.

    From the Calw Central Bus Station (ZOB) you can reach Heumaden with bus lines 6301, 6303 or 670. We recommend getting off at Heinz-Schnaufer-Straße, from there it is only a few minutes' walk to the starting point of this tour.
