Description Destination

The Reifenberg castle ruins are located in the Oberreifenberg district of Schmitten. The town of Reifenberg was first mentioned in documents in 1234, but the castle was not mentioned until 1331.
The castle was destroyed on the orders of the Elector of Mainz in 1689.
The Reifenberg Castle Association looks after the castle and the grounds on behalf of the Hessian Palaces and Gardens Administration.
