Description Destination

The family ski area around the Almberg (1139 m) is often referred to as the “Glacier of the Bavarian Forest” due to its snow reliability. Modern snow cannons on all slopes ensure perfectly groomed slopes and consistently good snow conditions. The beautifully situated ski area, which is particularly popular with families and beginners, is generally considered to have guaranteed snow from Christmas to March.
With a total of 4 drag lifts, a rope lift, 4 magic carpets and a double chairlift, the transport capacity is 10,000 persons/h. For cross-country skiers and winter hikers, 23 km of cross-country ski trails as well as ski and winter hiking trails are groomed or rolled. Three ski schools offer alpine, snowboard and cross-country skiing courses for all age groups and ability levels. Ski rental and two ski workshops are available on the slopes and in Mitterfirmiansreut.
The Junior Ski Circus in the Mitterdorf Ski Center is the first holistic children's ski paradise north of the Alps! Everything is just right here: from the arrival to the final race of the ski course! In the Junior Ski Circus (valley station of the Almwiesenlift) all beginners can effortlessly gain their first “board experience”. You stand on the magic carpet and, whoosh, you are in the starting position for the slope descent. Ski schools find optimal opportunities to teach skiing technique and the secluded 1 hectare site in a sunny and wind-protected location at the foot of the Almberg makes it easier to look after the children – e.g. on ski days for kindergartens or primary schools.
“Schlittengaudi”: The toboggan and Zi-Bob run on the alpine meadow! A 200 m long, covered conveyor belt takes you to the starting point of the tobogganing fun. Special tobogganing tickets as well as Zi-Bob and toboggan rental directly at the valley station conveyor belt.
