Description Destination

This 6 km long loop leads to the Kühstein, the Pfaffenhaus and the Drucker-Franzl-Stein. The Kühstein was probably a pagan sacrificial site and a hilltop castle stood on its summit. Today, a summit cross with a summit register stands here. It is also a popular climbing area. The Pfaffenhaus and the Drucker-Franzl-Stein are two caves. The Pfaffenhaus served as a hiding place for priests during the Hussite Wars, and the Drucker-Franzl-Stein was a robbers' den (Drucker Franzl was a feared and well-known robber who wreaked havoc in the Mühlviertel region).
The starting point and parking area is in Eschernhof or Oberpeilstein (many also park next to the road between Eschernhof and Oberpeilstein, but these are not official parking areas).
The path runs along the Stoanaweg with numbers 11 and 11a. From the parking lot, the route initially descends along the farm track to Oberpeilstein until the path to Kühstein (signpost) branches off to the right. In the forest, turn left and continue to the summit. From here, return and continue straight ahead on the Stoanaweg through the forest to Stratberg, past the caves and back to the starting point.
Keep a close eye on children at Kühstein, as there are no safety barriers and it is very exposed, especially in the summit area. The cave entrances are not located next to the path, but must be sought out. The rock formations with the caves are marked with signs.
Several geocaches are hidden (www.geocaching.com). Flashlight for the caves
