Description Destination

In 1907, a royal lace school was founded in Tiefenbach, where women and girls from the region learned to make hand-lace lace and were thus able to earn a second income. Alongside Schönsee and Stadlern, Tiefenbach lace made a name for itself as a product of local arts and crafts. Upper Palatinate lace was even shown at world exhibitions. In the hall of the former lace school, now the town hall, designs, pattern drawings, lace patterns and lace work from Tiefenbach are on display. The history of the lace school and the introduction of this branch of the cottage industry are presented.
