The Heidenreichstein Moor Nature Park, founded in 1989, is located near the town of Heidenreichstein, in the northwestern Waldviertel. It covers an area of ​​around 30 hectares, which is owned by the Heidenreichstein agricultural community. A third of this is open raised bog, which borders the moor forest covered with spruce, pine and birch trees. Carnivorous plants, hunting spiders, mystical rock formations and much more can be discovered here, bearing witness to a 10,000-year history.
