Description Destination

The idea for the new Silent Night Museum in Oberndorf was to present the song and its story at the place where it was first performed.
Two floors in the Old Rectory next to the Silent Night Chapel are available for this purpose.
Joseph Mohr lived in this rectory during his time as assistant priest in Oberndorf.
The immersion into the history of the building and life at that time is enriched by many multimedia stations. A karaoke station lets visitors experiment with different musical and linguistic versions. Several interactive stations on both levels invite children and adults to explore, solve puzzles and listen to stories. The courtyard of the museum is dedicated to the Oberndorf philosopher and winner of the alternative Nobel Prize, Leopold Kohr. On the top floor there is a museum educational room available for workshops and school classes.
