Family time in the Salzburg Lake District
The Lake District, located northeast of Salzburg, is ideal for excursions into nature, especially in spring and summer. Between the Wallersee on one side and the Obertrumer See, Grabensee and Mattsee on the other, the region in the Salzburg Alpine foothills attracts visitors with its picturesque gorges. The Salzburg Lake District is well connected in terms of transport. The A1 runs through the lake district in the south, so it is easy to get there by car . In addition, several postal bus lines and the Salzburg S-Bahn line S2 run to the region . So even without a car, nothing stands in the way of a family trip.
Numerous guesthouses and hotels also invite you to stay over the weekend. With the Seenland Card , the local tourist association offers an attractive discount card for guests who stay for several days.
Nature experiences and hiking trails
The Salzburg Lake District is particularly popular as a day trip destination . Families in particular enjoy hiking through the lake district via the Teufelsgraben . This romantic hiking trail leads through the gorge of the same name and provides information about the nature, geology and history of the region at various information stations. The trail is also easy to walk with children , although not all sections are suitable for strollers. The ditch leads past historical sites such as the Seehamer Kugelmühle and to natural monuments such as the Wildkar waterfall , thus showing a representative section of the region.
A themed hiking trail designed for families also leads through the Wenger Moor . The three-kilometer-long trail provides information about the moor's diverse functions as a biotope for plants and animals. If you want to spend time with your family in the countryside , you can also consider one of the beaches and water parks on one of the four lakes as a day trip destination . The expansive lawns and well-developed bathing facilities promise a relaxing afternoon , especially in midsummer.
Leisure and cultural activities
The lake district also offers a range of exciting cultural activities for leisure time. The Fantasiana adventure park in Straßwalchen, for example, is a real day trip tip with more than 50 attractions. But Gut Aiderbichl , a farm where rescued animals live and can be visited , is also a great day trip destination for families and especially children. Many farms in the region also offer farm holidays .
Directly in the Teufelsgraben, the Seeham high ropes course is another outstanding excursion option for families with children . Above the treetops, you can experience the landscape in a whole new way. With zip lines and giant swings, the park offers plenty of fun for children over 1.10 meters tall. The Europa slide, a 600-meter-long zip line , is the crowning glory of the course and, at first glance, even seems awe-inspiring to adults.
