Description Destination

Originally built as a sawmill between 1830 and 1840 and equipped with two water wheels, the building was taken over by a blacksmith company (Wahl) that had been based in the town since 1842 and converted into a drop forge in 1918. The business was listed as a historical monument in 1988. Today, the former drop forge is a technical monument and museum. We will show you the oldest board drop hammers in Germany, weighing over 16 tons and over 4 meters high. You can follow the development of drop forged parts, including tool production, and view numerous historical machines and hand tools.
