Description Destination

Do you know the bush warbler? When was the last time you saw a nightjar or horned grebe? We are not talking about stinging insects or agricultural professions and unusual hobbies, but about rare, endangered bird species. You can see these and many more up close at the Bird Museum in Waging. Almost 300 exhibits of European bird species can be found here. There are also numerous mammals such as bobcats, deer, wolves and bears – you can even see a musk ox from Greenland here!
Organized into eight thematic groups and habitats, you will gain an overview of the biodiversity of native and European bird species. From the golden eagle with its impressive wingspan to the funny-looking black vulture to the delicate wren, one of the smallest songbirds in Europe. What is the difference between the house sparrow and the tree sparrow? Can you find the difference? Be impressed by the colors and appearance of the local birdlife.
The Tourist Information Waging am See and the taxidermist Hermann Siglbauer want to bring nature and biodiversity closer to you with this interesting exhibition.
View the exhibits, which have been collected and produced with passion and dedication for more than 50 years, directly in the Waginger See Tourist Information building.
