Christmas market with children
A visit to the Christmas market: happy children hopping along next to me with shining eyes and in a good mood. The baby in the stroller, wrapped up warm, enjoys the ride through the first snowflakes. And I: chatting quietly and in a good mood with my best friend, while I look forward to a wonderfully harmonious Christmas, completely inspired by the music, the pretty decorative items and enveloped in the smell of roasted almonds.
Do you recognize yourself? Me neither! ;) (At least not all the time.)
Visiting the Advent market for families: like in the commercial?
In fact, the idea of a classic Christmas market visit with a child was initially much more rosy than in reality. Bathed in sweat? Yes! I was there more than once! Child gone and only found again at the next candy floss stand with the help of a spontaneous search party? Yeah... We'd rather not talk about the half cup of punch that ended up in the stroller.
And yet - it really does exist: the Christmas market for the whole family
Yes, they really do exist - these Christmas markets where parents AND children have a magical time . Santa Claus and his angels come to visit and give out sweet presents to the children. There is often a great supporting program for the children: a puppet theater, a cookie bakery or a craft workshop, to name just a few.
Survival hacks for the Christmas market with children:
- Leave the stroller at home - it's much better to use a baby carrier or backpack
- Children's clothing in bright colors (ski equipment) - so you can keep an eye on your little one faster and better
- with older children: agree on a concise meeting place in advance in case you get lost

A particularly idyllic Christmas market in the romantic setting of the Türkenschanzpark, in the heart of Vienna's 18th district.
