Ausflugsziel: Der vergoldete Posaunenengel im Heimatmuseum beim Treppenaufgang zum ersten Stock des Schlosses schmückte ursprünglich als Wetterfahne die Spitze des Südturms der Wertinger Stadtpfarrkirche St. Martin. Orkan Lothar brachte ihn dort allerdings am 2. Weihnachtsfeiertag 1999 zu Fall. Am 26.12.1999 riss der Sturm den Posaunenengel aus der Halterung und beförderte ihn zu Boden, er schlug unsanft im Kirchhof auf. Dabei wurde er erheblich beschädigt. 2005 einigte sich die Kirchen-verwaltung mit der Versicherung auf eine Entschädigungssumme. Der Engel kam zur Reparatur in eine Spezialfirma nach Ulm. Dort hat sich ergeben, dass die Reparatur zu aufwendig ist und deshalb ein neuer Engel beschafft werden soll. Der Südturm blieb auf diese Weise mehrere Jahre ohne Engel als Wetterfahne. Der beschädigte Engel wurde dem Heimat-museum der Stadt geschenkt. Den neuen Engel fertigte man nach dem Vorbild des alten. Und so kommt es, dass in Wertingen nun zwei Posaunenengel existieren: Das Original genießt die Windstille im Schloss, der Kopie auf der Südturmspitze der Stadtpfarrkirche bläst oft ein rauer Wind entgegen. - Heimatmuseum Wertingen

The imposing castle complex from the 14th to 17th centuries, which was formerly inhabited by the Langenmantel and Pappenheimer families, displays the holdings of the local museum in a dignified setting in the basements and corridors of what is now the town hall and seat of the Wertingen administrative community.
