The Jura Museum on the Eichstätt Willibaldsburg castle, high above the Altmühl valley, is one of the most beautifully situated natural history museums in Germany. It displays famous fossils from the Solnhofen limestone, such as the prehistoric bird Archaeopteryx and the only known example of the predatory dinosaur Juravenator. For an entrance fee of five euros (children under 18 are free!), you can also visit the Museum of Prehistory and Early History and the south tower of the Willibaldsburg castle, which offers a magnificent view over Eichstätt and the Altmühl valley.

    Due to renovation work on the Willibaldsburg, parking in the castle courtyard is currently not possible. On weekends and during school holidays, parking spaces are available at the Eichstätt State Vocational School. From there, you can reach the castle on foot in about 10-15 minutes (the path is not barrier-free!). There are two disabled parking spaces in the castle courtyard, which can usually be used at the following times after advance registration: Tue-Thu 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fri 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (deviations are possible). Advance registration is required for this on 08421/602980, as these parking spaces are located on the construction site.

    Guests arriving by train or bus can reach the Jura Museum from the "Eichstätt Stadt" train station on foot in about 20 minutes. The city bus line 140 stops halfway up the castle hill (stop "Elias-Holl-Straße 1", Mon-Sat). From there it takes about 10-15 minutes on foot. The path to the castle is not wheelchair accessible.
