The slate mountains were not only rich in slate, but also in numerous mineral resources and ores. These were further processed in the surrounding smelting works. The Heinrichshütte is the only one of the 10 smelting works that has been able to maintain its operations to this day. Experience the demonstration casting and the starting of Europe's most powerful steam engine on a guided tour with unique insights into what was going on back then.
