“I was born and realized that without a mobile, you walk quite a lot…” 🎵🎧🎺

Children, mostly boys, but not only them, are enthusiastic about rolling engines from a very early age, which can be played with in colourful covers. It is therefore obvious that parents will want to focus on " engines and mobility " when choosing their next excursion destination. We have selected five great excursion destinations for you from Carinthia to Bavaria and present the highlights in our " Grand Tour of Mobility Excursion Destinations ":

  1. Eicher Tractor Museum Forstern / Bavaria
An adventure museum where you can touch everything. Children can also climb onto the tractors under parental supervision! When the weather is nice or if you book in advance, there are also tractor tours. There is also a café and ice cream parlor.
  2. KTM Motohall / Mattighofen
Moto GP is a regular part of mum and son's TV schedule? Then the KTM Motohall could be the perfect destination for you. The ultra-modern and interactive exhibition on three levels covering 2600 m² allows you to experience the machines and adventures of the motorsport heroes, the history as well as innovations, technology and engineering around the topic of motorcycles and the KTM brand up close. And all of this is barrier-free, with interactive displays, virtual tours and original machines. 3. Porsche Museum / Gmünd
The only private Porsche Museum is located in Gmünd, where the first vehicles bearing the Porsche name were built after World War II. The beautiful collection includes everything from the Porsche 356 Type 356 020 ALU, to the buoyant Porsche hunting car (1956) to Porsche rally and racing cars. Another highlight is Austria's first and only police Porsche 911. A special exhibition that changes every year awaits you. In 2021: "50 years of the Porsche 911". A multimedia presentation on the history and designs of Porsche provides further interesting information. There are enough bus and car parking spaces right next to the museum (just a 2-minute walk).
  4. Fahrraum / Mattsee
In the middle of the Salzburg Lake District, in the beautiful Mattsee, you will find the fahr(t)raum museum - Ferdinand Porsche adventure worlds. FROM THE CARRIAGE TO THE BEETLE Fine automobiles, driving simulators, children's workshops and exciting events ensure unforgettable experiences. The development of the car had a lasting impact on the 20th century and one of the pioneers was Ferdinand Porsche. The "forefather" of Porsche and VW developed his first cars with Lohner in beautiful Vienna and Austro Daimler in Wiener Neustadt. Did you know that electric and hybrid engines were already being installed back then? He also made history with the Austro Daimler "Prinz Heinrich", which is considered the world's first real sports car, and the "Kaiserwagen" from 1912! Each of the exhibits has its own story: What is the "Louisewagen" all about or who could afford the KdF car "Volkswagen"? The exhibition space is a former shoe factory, whose cool and functional architecture provides the perfect setting for the fine automobiles. The presentation of the valuable automobiles is designed in such a way that visitors can get up close and personal with the bodies. Everything worth knowing can be found out via multimedia touchscreens. For entertainment in between, there are state-of-the-art simulators that offer a realistic driving experience and make centrifugal forces an experience. The Carrera race track is an ideal family meeting place, where young and old can emulate the great idols of motorsport with a sure instinct and cornering acrobatics. A newly designed children's workshop is available for the little ones. An exciting and varied program takes place every Thursday afternoon. The focus is on the joy of research and experimentation, the exciting life of the inventive spirit of Ferdinand Porsche and his achievements, as well as promoting creativity. It is still largely unknown that Ferdinand Porsche was already working on the motorization of agricultural equipment from 1915 onwards - as can be seen in the tractor barn - and developed a "people's tractor", the first prototypes of which were built in 1938. You should definitely come here with your kids or take part in one or another event.
  5. Vötters Vintage Car Museum / Kaprun
The vintage car museum in Kaprun presents vehicle history from the 50s to the 70s "economic miracle years" and older - cars, tractors, motorcycles, radios, telephones, films - from small cars to the largest convertible in the world, steam locomotive from 1893, furnished apartment from the 50s, and other rarities. Exhibition area: approx. 1400m² with approx. 200 exhibits. It is worth emphasizing that the museum has a wide variety of vehicle types from most European countries on display. Wow, the largest convertible in the world? You really should see it 👏
