With the “Border Tower Memorial”, the Wendehausen local history association wants to keep the memory of the former border installations alive and show future generations the history of the place.
The tower was used by the GDR border troops to monitor the barriers and has been preserved in its original location.
The tower can be reached from Wendehausen (2.5 km), from Katharinenberg (2.3 km) and from the Grenzblick rest area on the B249 (1.75 km). If you choose the route from the Drei-Kreise-Eck, on the country road between Wendehausen and Heldra (5 km), you can also visit the agent lock on the way.
