Rauris, the largest municipality in Salzburg in terms of area, offers a lot for families. Small children in particular can experience a lot in the valley from the Rauriser Höhe to the Sonnblick. Here we show you an overview of the excursion destinations in the town, in the valley and on the mountains. Here are our 5 highlights :
- The Hochalmbahn Rauris with a great bird of prey show at the mountain station, extensive hikes such as along Tilly's forest path and a gold panning area . More information...
- The path to the Rauriser Urwald is a beautiful hike that is suitable for children but not for strollers. Directly from the end of the valley in Kolm-Saigurn you hike to over 80 moor ponds and almost untouched nature. More information...
- Also almost at the end of the Rauris Valley is the Bodenhaus gold panning area. I used to pan for gold from the river here as a child. It was a great experience, even when the weather wasn't quite perfect. More information...
- For hot summer days we can recommend the Summererpark in Rauris . Building a dam in the shallow stream, relaxing in the sandpit or just letting off steam - our children loved it. More information...
- Finally, we would like to recommend the Palfner Alm . Why? Let us explain a little more.
Another facet of Rauris is the Seidlwinkltal . The hike, which can also be managed with a stroller if you have a bit of stamina, begins at the Fleckweide car park. After just over an hour's walk, you reach the almost 300-year-old Palfner Alm. Those who prefer to take it easy can take the valley bus, which also leaves directly from Rauris and takes guests to the Alm.
Once you arrive at the alpine pasture, you will find a small paradise for children . A children's playground, calves, ponies and free-roaming pigs will keep the little ones entertained. And then there are the marmots. If you haven't seen one or two marmots on the way to the alpine pasture, you will most likely find them near the alpine pasture. The children can then really let off steam on the sunken trampoline or at the new water playground .
And what is there for the adults? A wonderful alpine landscape and above all: enjoyment. The alpine farm impresses with its own products made from beef and milk , refined into delicious cheese and sausage. The cakes and apple strudel are also a poem. If you want to experience the full spectrum of enjoyment, the best thing to do is book breakfast on the alpine pasture for a reasonable 12 euros (all inclusive). Registration by texting 0664 / 52 36 863 is requested!
