Two months of preparation are behind us, but now the time has come. We present the TOP excursion destinations of 2021. Over 1.5 million reviews from the Internet were evaluated, combined with a survey, and these are the best excursion destinations for families in Austria and South Tyrol.

There is an overall winner in each federal state, which was selected based on its outstanding guest reviews on the Internet. This number 1 in each federal state receives the title of “Excursion Destination of the Year 2021” from us. And now enough of the words, here are the winners of the respective federal state:

How the ranking was determined

Of course, we didn't just choose the excursion destinations based on our own whims. As already mentioned, the decisive factor was the more than 1.5 million reviews that can be found on familienausflug.info. These include reviews that were originally submitted on Google, Facebook or Tripadvisor. This way, we managed to get as much overview as possible of guest opinions.

To win the award, the excursion destination had to have at least 25 reviews in total and a minimum average rating of 4.75. The remaining candidates were sorted according to the weighted ratings. Reviews on familienausflug.info were given a factor of 3, external reviews were summarized and also weighted with a factor of 3. Our user survey with 160 responses provided the "finishing touches". Each mention was awarded another 5 points. The sum of the points ultimately led to the overall result and the ranking shown here.
