A nice day trip tip is the state capital Graz . It has a large medieval old town with a southern flair. But the city also offers a lot of modern architecture that is known far beyond Austria's borders.
Examples include the greenhouse in the Botanical Garden by Volker Giencke, or the blue art house in the middle of the old town by the architects Peter Cook and Fournier. The small size of the complex makes it an ideal place for family time .
Southern Styria - the Styrian Tuscany
A third excursion tip in the region for family and friends is Southern Styria . Wine is grown here, there are numerous wine taverns that offer their own products and are located on beautiful hills. The light already has a southern tinge and this area is a beautiful destination, especially for wine tasting and a cozy get-together . A car is recommended here , as the area is very hilly, but you can also rent electric bikes and ride around.
